Empowering Growth...
National Apprenticeship Week 2021 is taking place across England from 8th to 14th February. The annual week-long celebration is designed to celebrate the positive impact apprenticeships and traineeships have on individuals, businesses and the economy. Employers across the country are encouraged to promote the great work of their apprentices, whilst highlighting the many benefits apprenticeships bring to their business.
Benefits of Apprenticeships for Employers:
- Increases Staff Retention – Employees who are offered structured career progression and development are more likely to feel satisfied and committed to the company. Apprentices across all industries are more likely to stay within your business compared to other team members, this in turn reduces recruitment costs.
- Secures Fresh Talent – Offering the opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning provides a fantastic incentive to jobseekers, meaning you will be able to pick the very best talent. Apprentices often bring with them a fresh approach, high productivity levels and willingness to learn which can have a knock-on effect to existing employees.
- Government Funding - You can get help from the government to pay for apprenticeship training. The amount you get depends on whether you pay the apprenticeship levy or not. Either way employers should be taking advantage of this scheme as it will hugely benefit any business.
- Enhances Productivity – Apprentices provide an extra pair of hands for the business and can assist staff with smaller tasks, allowing them more time to concentrate on larger responsibilities. Delegating basic tasks will allow the apprentice to learn whilst also increasing productivity levels in the rest of the business.
- Strengthens Reputation – Companies who employ apprentices are viewed as forward thinking which is an attractive selling point. Investing in your staff will boost attraction rates and will have a positive effect on the business.
