We are seeking an organised and proactive Yard Controller to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a busy manufacturing yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating vehicle movements, managing loading and unloading activities, maintaining accurate stock and location records, and ensuring materials and finished goods are stored safely and correctly.

Working closely with production, warehouse, transport and health and safety teams, the Yard Controller will help maintain an efficient flow of materials, minimise operational delays, protect stock from damage and support the timely fulfilment of delivery commitments.

Job Duties:

‍

• Coordinate daily yard movements, including delivery and collection vehicles, trailers, forklifts and other mobile equipment.

• Allocate appropriate areas for vehicle parking, loading, unloading and material storage to maximise space utilisation and minimise congestion.

• Liaise with production, warehouse and transport teams to ensure materials and finished products are available for scheduled movements.

• Verify incoming and outgoing goods against delivery documentation, dispatch records and relevant system entries, investigating discrepancies where necessary.

• Maintain accurate records of yard stock, vehicle movements, trailers, containers and equipment locations.

• Ensure raw materials, finished products, packaging, returned goods, quarantined stock and waste are clearly identified and stored in designated locations.

• Monitor stock rotation and location accuracy, supporting stock counts and investigations into missing, damaged or misplaced items.

• Carry out routine yard inspections to identify hazards, obstructions, spills, poor housekeeping, product damage and unsafe working practices.

What are looking for:

‍

• Previous experience in a yard-control, logistics, warehouse, distribution or manufacturing environment.

• Strong organisational and planning skills

• Good attention to detail

• Confidence using stock-control, ERP, warehouse-management or similar operational systems.

• A sound understanding of workplace health and safety, particularly vehicle movements, pedestrian safety and material handling.

• A valid forklift or other relevant material-handling equipment qualification is desirable
