We are looking for a skilled PLC Programmer / Control Engineer to join our clients team this is a role suited to candidates who have experience within Electrical Engineering that are confident to deliver client projects on site, there will be aspects of travel with this role at the frequency of 1 week in 6, travel will mainly be in Europe but could on occasions be Worldwide to attend exhibitions and site builds.
You will be part of the Design Engineering Team developing cutting edge Bespoke equipment for the client within various sectors. You will be confident in the design and testing of new products working alongside both Electrical and Mechanical disciplines.
Duties:
- Contribute to new product design from concept through to final product
- Design, construct and test PLC Programs and HMI’s for customised products to IEC 61131
- Produce Functional Design Specifications and test plans
- Machine design control controlling various elements of 3 phase power, high power switching electronics, analogue / digital control
- Commissioning / testing products
- Defining the regulatory and safety requirements of product design
- Performing FMEA / Risk Assessments / DFM (Design for manufacture)
- Taking the ideas of the project leaders and developing industrialised solutions
- Investigation of equipment, techniques, materials and hardware for new products
- Support the transfer of products from development to customer
- Assisting in the preparation of documentation
- Provide support / expert advice for current production equipment
- Project manage specific small projects
Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Experience in PLC / Control Engineering role biased to electrical
- Working knowledge of standard manufacturing and engineering processes
- Experience in designing and developing/testing new products
- Experience in regulatory and safety requirements to Machinery / Low Voltage / EMC Directives
- Product integration experience (desirable)
- Wiring and fault finding advantageous (desirable)
