We’re working with our client, a well-established precision engineering company, to find a reliable and experienced Manual Machinist. This is a hands-on position where you’ll play an essential role in the manufacture of high-quality components, working with a range of manual machinery in a busy workshop environment. Your day-to-day duties will include setting and operating manual lathes and milling machines, working from engineering drawings, and ensuring components are produced to tight tolerances. Duties may vary in this new role, but it is essential you show a keen eye for detail, maintain quality standards, and report any issues to higher management.

Duties will include:

• Setting and operating manual lathes and milling machines

• Working from engineering drawings to manufacture components

• Measuring and inspecting parts to ensure they meet required tolerances

• Selecting appropriate tooling and materials for each job

• Carrying out basic machine maintenance and adjustments

• Deburring and finishing components to a high standard

• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe workshop environment

• Reporting any machine faults or quality issues

• Supporting continuous improvement within the machine shop

Key skills and attributes required:

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist essential

• Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Experience using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres, gauges)

• A proactive and reliable team player with a strong work ethic

• Understanding of health and safety procedures

• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
