Are you a CNC Machinist looking to join a busy toolroom environment where precision, quality and problem-solving are at the heart of the role? Our client is looking for a machinist to support the manufacture, modification and repair of precision components, mould tools, jigs and fixtures used within an injection moulding environment.

Job Duties:

• Set, operate and monitor CNC milling, turning and machining centre equipment to produce precision components to engineering drawings and specifications.

• Machine, modify and repair injection mould tools, inserts, electrodes, jigs, fixtures and associated tooling.

• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM data, work instructions and job cards to determine machining requirements.

• Select suitable cutting tools, fixtures, work holding methods and machine settings for each job.

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection checks using verniers, micrometres, gauges and height gauges.

• Make minor programme edits, offset adjustments and tooling changes to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

• Work closely with toolmakers, mould setters, production and quality teams to resolve tooling issues and support machine uptime.

• Support preventative maintenance, accurate record keeping and continuous improvement activities to reduce downtime, waste and scrap.

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Setter Operator, Toolmaker or similar within manufacturing or precision engineering.

• Practical experience using CNC mills, lathes, machining centres or similar equipment.

• Ability to confidently read engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications.

• Competence using manual measuring equipment and carrying out quality checks.

• Knowledge of CNC controls and CAD/CAM systems would be advantageous.

• Experience with injection mould tooling, plastics manufacturing or mould tool repair would be highly desirable.

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or machining qualification is desirable, although equivalent practical experience will be considered.
